The most common problems
The most common problem
1. Lid screwed on too tightly: The screw lid should only be lightly tightened while vacuum sealing. If it is tightened too much, the vacuum sealer cannot draw air out of the jar. So tighten it only gently.
2. Jar too full: There needs to be some air space in the jar so the vacuum sealer can draw out enough air. Especially with liquids and very dense foods, you should leave at least 2 cm free up to the top rim of the jar.
3. Check the rubber lip: A common problem is that the rubber lip in the EcoSeal Pro is not inserted correctly. If it slips slightly, it can no longer create an airtight seal. Remove the rubber lip completely and carefully insert it again so it sits evenly.

4. Device was very cold (e.g. winter delivery): If the EcoSeal Pro is very cold, the motor may run weakly at first. Simply let the device warm up a little, for example 30-60 minutes at room temperature, and then try again. After that, it usually works normally again.
5. Be careful when twisting: When placing the EcoSeal Pro on the jar, make sure you only twist it clockwise if you twist it at all, otherwise you could unscrew the lid again.
This can actually also solve a failed vacuum sealing attempt.
6. Jar is not compatible: Every EcoSeal Pro comes with 3 compatible jars that are 100% compatible. We cannot guarantee compatibility with any other jars. To test whether a jar is compatible, place the vacuum sealer on the jar with the lid on, switch the device on, and lift the vacuum sealer while it is running. If the jar lifts with it, the EcoSeal Pro has created an airtight seal and the jar is compatible; otherwise it is not. More information
7. Jar rim or inside of lid is wet: Make sure the jar rim and the inside of the lid are dry so an airtight seal can be created.
8. Fully charge the EcoSeal Pro: A low battery level can affect performance. Fully charge the device before using it.
9. Use/remove the adapter: By default, an adapter is mounted on the EcoSeal Pro that is suitable for jars with smaller openings. For jars with larger openings, you need to remove this adapter. To do this, turn the lower part of the EcoSeal Pro to the left.
FAQs
EcoSeal Pro
Mason Jars or VacuJars - which holds the vacuum the longest?
Both our VacuJars and Ball Mason Jars work reliably with the EcoSeal Pro and create a strong vacuum.
Mason Jars have one small advantage: their two-piece lid, made up of a flat sealing disc and a screw-on band, often keeps the vacuum a little longer with gas-producing contents (for example at the start of fermentation). The band presses the disc down especially firmly, making it harder for the vacuum to release unintentionally.
👉 For the longest-lasting vacuum across all contents, Ball Mason Jars have a slight edge.
Which jars is the EcoSeal Pro compatible with?
For classic direct vacuum sealing, the EcoSeal Pro is designed for our compatible Seal it! Jars. These include our VacuJars and the Ball Mason Jars we offer.
Other jars are not intended for direct vacuum sealing.
If you want to use your own jars or containers, use the AnySeal System. For this, you use the AnySeal Adapter and matching AnySeal Lids.
Are the lids reusable?
Yes, the lids are reusable. For direct vacuum sealing, you use the normal lid of the respective jar - either the twist-off lid of our VacuJars or the two-piece Mason Jar lid.
With AnySeal, you use matching AnySeal Lids. These are reusable too. Just make sure the seal and valve stay clean and undamaged.
Which foods does it work with?
In general, you can vacuum-seal anything that fits into a compatible jar or suitable container. That includes dry foods such as spices, coffee, oats or nuts, as well as fresh foods, meat or whole meals.
Important: With gas-producing contents (for example the start of fermentation), the vacuum can release again over time. This is normal.
Food safety: Vacuum sealing does not replace proper storage. Please continue to store foods appropriately (for example refrigerated for perishable products), keep things hygienic and use your senses (smell/appearance). You can find more information here: Notes & Food Safety.
How long do vacuum-sealed foods keep?
Shelf life depends a lot on the food, its freshness at the start and how it is stored. As a rule of thumb, fresh foods often stay fresh 3-5x longer, while dry products such as oats or coffee beans can often keep for several months to years when stored dry and away from light.
Important: Vacuum sealing does not replace proper storage. Perishable foods still belong in the fridge, and hygiene as well as your own checks (smell/appearance) remain essential. You can find more information here: Notes & Food Safety.
Can I vacuum-seal soups and other liquids?
Yes, you can. Please be careful, though, so that no liquid is sucked into the EcoSeal Pro. This can damage the device.
Always let liquids cool down first, do not vacuum-seal them while hot, and do not overfill the jar or container. Always leave enough space at the top.
Does the EcoSeal Pro protect against pests (for example moths)?
Yes! A correctly sealed, airtight jar makes it much harder for pests (for example moths) to get in. Hardly any odors escape either, which can make the contents less attractive to them.
However, if eggs or larvae are already in the product before vacuum sealing, a vacuum will not automatically prevent that.
Can I put your jars in the freezer?
Yes. When freezing, be sure to leave a few centimeters of headspace. Do not fill the jar all the way to the rim, because liquids expand as they freeze.
Also check beforehand that the jar has no visible damage such as cracks or chips.
Does the EcoSeal Pro need batteries or a power source?
No, the EcoSeal Pro has a rechargeable battery and is charged with the included USB-C cable.
How exactly does the EcoSeal Pro work?
The EcoSeal Pro can be used in two ways.
1. Direct vacuum sealing with Seal it! Jars: You place the normal lid on the jar, position the EcoSeal Pro directly over it and start the device. The EcoSeal Pro pulls air out of the jar until the lid seals airtight through the negative pressure.
2. Vacuum sealing with AnySeal: You insert the AnySeal Adapter into the EcoSeal Pro and use matching AnySeal Lids. This lets you vacuum-seal many of your own jars or containers.
How long does vacuum sealing take?
Vacuum sealing usually takes about 20-40 seconds, depending on jar size, contents and use case.
What is AnySeal?
AnySeal is an expansion system for the EcoSeal Pro. It consists of an AnySeal Adapter and matching AnySeal Lids.
The adapter is simply inserted into the EcoSeal Pro. You can then vacuum-seal jars or containers with matching AnySeal Lids.
The benefit: the EcoSeal Pro no longer has to seal directly against the rim of the jar. This lets you use many of your own jars and containers.
Is AnySeal an either-or choice?
No. You do not have to choose one version permanently.
You can easily insert the AnySeal Adapter into the EcoSeal Pro and remove it again. This means you can use the same device to vacuum-seal directly with Seal it! Jars or use your own jars and containers with AnySeal Lids.
Can I use my own jars with the EcoSeal Pro?
Yes, but for this we recommend the AnySeal System.
Classic direct vacuum sealing is intended only for compatible Seal it! Jars. Your own jars often differ in shape, rim and diameter, so they cannot be vacuum-sealed directly with reliable results.
With AnySeal, you use matching AnySeal Lids and the AnySeal Adapter. This lets you use many of your own jars and containers much more flexibly.
Do I need the original lid of my jar for AnySeal?
No. With AnySeal, you do not use the original twist-off lid or Mason Jar lid of your jar. Instead, you use a matching AnySeal Lid.
This lid is specially designed to be vacuum-sealed through the valve.
What is the difference between direct vacuum sealing and AnySeal?
With direct vacuum sealing, you use compatible Seal it! Jars with their normal lids. The EcoSeal Pro is placed directly on the jar. This is especially simple, reliable and visually neat thanks to the beautiful jars and perfectly fitting lids.
With AnySeal, you use the AnySeal Adapter and matching AnySeal Lids. This option is ideal if you want to keep using many of your own jars or containers.
Many customers simply use both: Seal it! Jars for beautiful, quick direct use and AnySeal for extra flexibility in everyday life.
