How to use your EcoSeal Pro correctly

Prepare the jar

  1. Fill the jar: Fill the jar with your chosen food or product. Make sure not to overfill it and leave enough space for the lid. The contents should not go above the screw line.
  2. Clean the rim: Wipe the rim of the jar with a clean cloth to ensure there are no food residues or moisture that could affect the seal.
  3. Check the lid: Make sure the lid is clean and undamaged. A dirty or damaged lid can prevent the vacuum. Pay special attention to the rubber ring on the inside of the lid. Small dents on the top are usually not a problem.
  4. Screw on the lid: Screw the lid on firmly but not too tight. If it's too loose, it may come off during vacuuming. If it's too tight, air can't escape. When in doubt: better a little too tight than too loose.

Attach the EcoSeal Pro

  1. Check the sealing ring: Make sure the rubber seals on the EcoSeal Pro and the adapter are clean and properly in place. Even a slightly misaligned seal can affect the vacuum. If needed, remove the rubber ring and reinsert it carefully.
  2. Position the device: Place the EcoSeal Pro straight on top of the jar lid. The rubber ring should sit evenly and seal well with the rim of the jar.
  3. Press down gently: Press the EcoSeal Pro down gently to ensure a proper seal.

Switch on the device

  1. Press the power button: Press the on/off button to start the vacuum process.
  2. Wait for the cycle: The EcoSeal Pro takes about 40 seconds to create optimal vacuum. If needed, you can adjust the time using the plus and minus buttons.
  3. Listen to the sound: A steady operating sound indicates the device is working correctly. Unusual noises may suggest an air leak.

After sealing

  1. Carefully remove the device: Pull the EcoSeal Pro straight upward. If it’s hard to remove, tilt it slightly to break the vacuum.
  2. Check the seal: Make sure the lid is tightly sealed and no longer moves easily. A dull sound when tapping the lid indicates successful vacuum sealing.
  3. Tighten the lid: Now screw the lid firmly onto the jar to secure the seal.
  4. Storage: Store the sealed jar in a suitable place. Follow the recommended storage conditions for the contents.

Troubleshooting

  • Check the rubber seal: The most common issue is a misaligned rubber seal in the EcoSeal Pro. If it’s even slightly out of place, it won’t seal properly. Remove the rubber seal completely and reinsert it carefully so it sits evenly.
    (See slider below)

How to insert the rubber seal correctly:

  • Lid screwed on too tightly or too loosely: The lid should be screwed on moderately during vacuuming. If it’s too tight, the EcoSeal Pro can’t extract air. If it’s too loose, the lid might come off during the process.
  • Jar not compatible: Each EcoSeal Pro comes with 3 perfectly fitting jars that are 100% compatible. For all other jars, compatibility cannot be guaranteed. To test: place the vacuum sealer on the jar with the lid, turn it on, and gently lift the device while it runs. If the jar lifts with it, it’s compatible. If not, it isn’t. More information
  • Jar rim or lid is wet: Make sure the jar rim and lid are dry to ensure an airtight seal.
  • Do not twist the device: When placing the EcoSeal Pro on the lid, avoid twisting it – this could unscrew the lid and break the seal.
  • Fully charge the EcoSeal Pro: A low battery may affect performance. Make sure to fully charge the device before use.
  • Try a longer sealing time: Run the EcoSeal Pro for up to 60 seconds to create a stronger vacuum, especially with larger jars.
  • Use the adapter: If you’re having trouble sealing, try using the included adapter. It can improve the seal on certain jars.

Important Safety Instructions for Using the EcoSeal Pro

Vacuum sealing can significantly extend the shelf life of food but does not replace basic hygiene practices or proper storage. The EcoSeal Pro is not a substitute for proven preservation methods such as canning or freezing and does not protect against all food-related risks.

General safety instructions:

  1. Food-specific storage recommendations: Always follow the recommended storage conditions for each type of food (e.g. always keep meat, fish, and dairy products refrigerated or frozen).
  2. Keep refrigerated and consume promptly: Vacuum-sealed food often stays fresh longer, but you still need to keep it cold and use it in time. Vacuum sealing is not a replacement for proper refrigeration.
  3. If in doubt, throw it out: If you're unsure about the safety or quality of a food item, it's better to discard it. Even small changes in smell, color, or texture can be warning signs.
  4. Warning: Risk of botulism! The bacterium Clostridium botulinum can grow in low-oxygen environments (such as inside a vacuum-sealed container) and produce dangerous toxins—especially in low-acid foods like pumpkin, root vegetables, or garlic. Never store such foods at room temperature for too long. Always follow general hygiene guidelines. Keep in mind: Even careful vacuum sealing cannot fully prevent botulism—refrigeration, heat treatment, or sufficient acidification are still necessary.
  5. Add acidity for longer shelf life: Adding lemon juice or vinegar (or salt for pickled foods) can increase acidity and help extend shelf life even further.

Tips for safe storage:

Fresh foods (fruit, vegetables, meat):

  • Sliced fruit should be stored in the fridge and can be sprinkled with lemon juice to keep it fresh longer.
  • Moisture-rich fruit (e.g. strawberries) should be vacuum-sealed with a paper towel to absorb excess liquid.
  • Raw meat must always be kept chilled and used within the recommended time frame.

Dry foods:

  • Dry foods are ideal for vacuum sealing. They don’t spoil easily but may lose quality over time.
  • Vacuum sealing offers additional protection from pests (e.g. pantry moths).

Cooked meals:

  • Cooked meals should be vacuum-sealed immediately after cooling and stored in the fridge.
  • As with fresh foods, vacuum sealing extends shelf life but does not replace refrigeration.

Additional practical tips:

  • Portioning: Divide larger amounts into portions before vacuum sealing. This avoids reopening and resealing, which can reduce shelf life.
  • Minimize residual moisture: Pat meat or vegetables dry before sealing to prevent condensation inside the jar. Moisture promotes bacterial growth and shortens shelf life.
  • Label your food: Mark vacuum-sealed containers with the date and contents. This helps you track your inventory and use food before it spoils.

💡 Note: These recommendations are based on widely accepted hygiene and storage guidelines. For specific advice on certain foods or health concerns, consult professional resources or contact a specialist (e.g. nutritionist or food safety authority).
